The Hundred Mile Music Show: Who

Steve Ritchie - The Host

Steve.jpg21-year veteran road-warrior with the mighty Canadian folk/roots band Tanglefoot, Steve embarks on a new endeavour as host of the Hundred Mile Music Show.

After leaving his home town of Owen Sound in 1981, Steve lived in Toronto for eight years where he worked as a recording studio engineer while moonlighting as a drummer in the Toronto blood-barn circuit. He moved to Peterborough, Ontario in 1988 after hooking up with Tanglefoot, returning home in 1996 where he has lived ever since.

"When I left in '81 the Owen Sound music scene was nothing like it is now," says Steve. "Back then there were some extremely talented people and some very good music in the bars, but now there's something going on nearly every night of the week, and simply lots more people creating music everywhere you look.

"I've always been interested in radio. I used to do a music column on CBC Ontario Morning and I did countless interviews during the Tanglefoot years. I've always thought radio was something I'd like to pursue at some point, and this is a perfect opportunity for me to do that while also exploring the Grey-Bruce and southern Ontario music scene."

Enio Mascherin - Executive Producer & Co-Host

Born and raised in Toronto, Enio moved to the Grey Bruce area in 2004 to become the Creative Director at Bayshore Broadcasting.

Although his responsibilities at the station are focused mainly on creating award-winning radio advertising for his clients, Enio has always been on the watch for a way to marry his interest in music, performance, and promotion - The 100 Mile Music Show is the child of that marriage.

"I wanted to create a platform for independent musicians to have their music played, talked about, and promoted - not based on musical style, but simply on the fact that the talent was indigenous to the area."

Beyond being the Co-Host and Executive Producer of the Hundred Mile Music Show, Enio is also a talented improviser. Back in his Toronto days, he was a member of such fringe improv groups as Unfinished Business, The Urchins Of Menace and Better Than Nothing.  At The Second City Toronto, Enio was an Associate Producer and a Director of The Training Centre. He has been an improv instructor at Seneca College and The Haliburton School For The Arts.  He was also a collaborating Director with the Debajehmujig Theatre Group in the creation of the First Nations improv group, "The Best Medicine."

These days, you can catch Enio playing in the popular musical group, The Little Bigheads.
